why didn't stock and mutual fund prices update yesterday?.?

The stockmarket is not open on Boxing day.

The US markets were opened and mutual funds I owed had update prices

They did.

Fund Prices

If they are in same category, ETF share prices tend to about 6 or 7 times more expensive than their seeming counterparts in mutual funds. I understand ETF’s benefits over mutual funds such as low turn over rate creating less capital gains tax, lower expense ratio, no min investment, no short term redemption fee, intra day trading and etc…. However, index mutual fund can come close to that also at much lower prices…… Anyone know why ETF share prices tend to be noticeably higher than mutual fund share prices?
With ETF, it’s much easier to take advantage of dollar cost averaging due to there being no min initial investment nor min additional investment, but the share prices are expensive.
With ETF, there are companies that will waive commissions if you trade their ETFs which is my intent.

The costs of ETFs include not only management fees but also trading costs. The latter include commissions, and markups and markdowns on the investments bought or sold. When you buy, you purchase at the dealer’s ask price, which tends to be on the high side of the market. Conversely, when you sell, you sell at the dealer’s bid price, which tends be on the low side of the market. Commissions add to your expense.

Another problem is that there can be price changes in the stocks underlying an ETF between the time you buy the ETF and the price of a comparable mutual fund, which is calculated at daily closing prices. The result is that sometimes ETF prices may be higher than underlying stock prices (and also mutual fund prices). This isn’t always a problem, but it can be, depending on how the market moves and when during the day you buy the ETF. Also, ETF price changes sometimes lag behind price changes in the underlying stocks, so that your purchase may be executed at an “inaccurate” price, in a manner of speaking.

With all fund closing prices being different the price change per day is meaningless. I wish they illustrated it in terms of daily percentage gains. Why do they not do this?

i don’t know

Best, yet not-too-expensive way to take a week-long trip to Cremona, Italy from Atlanta, GA?

I’m working on a general plan for a trip to Cremona, Italy.
I’m currently 15 years old, going to be 16 in August, and I might have some financial help from my family even if they can’t come along.
I’m hoping to be able to take this trip in the summer of 2010, possibly 2011, but I’m getting a general idea of cost right now.
I would probably stay for a week, possibly a bit longer depending on how much money I have and how much I can plan on seeing in a week without being rushed.
I understand that there is not an airport in Cremona, and that I would need to take a train there.
I would also want to fly first-class; I’d fly coach, but there’s not quite as much foot space. ;-)
I’m thinking that it would be best to fly into Milan and take a train from there…right?
I’m not quite sure what hotels are in Cremona, and am not having too much luck with finding any.
What hotels are there in Cremona?
What are restaurant prices in the range of?

I’m mainly wanting to go to Cremona to study stringed instruments, specifically violin, since I am an orchestra student(I play violin). Since it would be mainly for educational reasons, would there be any discounts that I could apply for/be elligible for? Or even tax deductions?

Thanks for your information! :-)
Also, are there very many English-speakers in those parts of Italy, if any at all? If not, are there organizations that employ translators to accompany people while they are in Italy? Or even any good books/CDs/software to learn Italian?
restaurant discounts in atlanta.

conley39:Cremona isn’t the most popular destination here, but it is an interesting town to visit – especially with your background in stringed instruments. There are a number of luthiers in town. It’s not far from where I live in Emilia Romagna.

I would either fly into Verona or Brescia rather than one of Milan’s three airports although Milan isn’t a bad choice if you get a better deal on a flight there. You can take the train to Cremona from any of them. There are buses from the airport to the train station from any of the airports. You can find current train schedules and prices here: http://www.ferroviedellostato.it/cms/v/index.jsp?vgnextoid=3fdbe14114bc9110VgnVCM10000080a3e90aRCRD

For hotels, you can check this site: http://www.venere.com/ . I’ve been using it here for the past ten years with no problems. The Cremona page is here: http://www.venere.com/italy/cremona/

There are a range of restaurants. In Cremona, you’ll be able to eat very well for around 25 to 30 euro per day – you could spend a lot more though.

There are some people that speak English about everywhere you go here, but there are a lot of people that don’t – especially in the smaller towns. You might try programs like Rosetta Stone for learning some Italian before you come. There are also some on-line courses with the basics. The BBC has one. http://www.bbc.co.uk/languages/italian/

First class air will be very expensive – this is probably the best place to start shaving down the overall cost of the trip.

Q&A: Accidentally bought men's sunglasses... would you wear them?

discounted sunglasses for men

I was in one of the discount stores and found some really cute Polo RL sunglasses for a good price so I bought them. When I looked them up online to see the regular price I found out they are MENS and I am not a man. So here is a link/picture of them. Girls what do you think? Would you still wear them even though you know they are mens or would you return them???

discounted sunglasses for men.

mnickels:yes of course

Anmoranalina:I currently wear men’s sunglasses. They’re great. And I am a girl.

So yes :]

DuplicateMe:Those look really girly, so I doubt anyone will be the wiser.

Larissa:Yes I would, I think that if you didn’t realise they were mens in the first place then it shows that girls can wear them too. If you look good in them then go for it!

sweet dream♥:Cute, you really can’t tell if their man glasses

Kelly:Actually those dont even look like guy glasses.. im sure if you wear them then no one will assume that there guy glasses.. every girl mostly has the same style sunglasses just all different colors and even guy wear ours too ..lol since they like the style and they think its cool.. i would wear them .. but if you decide you dont want them and decide to get girl ones then just return them and go to rue21 to get sunglasses
At rue21 they have all different kinds of glasses with ofcourse all different colors from neon to dark colors

good luck :]

Hope this helps

Anth_S:The model you bought are small wayfarer sunglasses. Usually they are unisex, but that depends on the color. If you bought a comparable color to the picture, it are female sunglasses. So don’t worry, you won’t look ridiculous with them. In contrast, probably you look very good with them (as long as you don't have a round shaped head).
